Rožle postal predsednik Komisije atletov pri IAAF

Dne 27.2.2016 je v Monaku potekalo srečanje članov Komisije atletov pri Mednarodni atletski zvezi (IAAF). Na srečanju so člani izvolili novega vodjo in za predsednika Komisije postavili Rožleta Prezlja. Rožle je tako nasledil nekdaj uspešnega tekača Frenka Fredericks-a, ki atletiki najbolj poznan kot nekdanji nosilec svetovnega rekorda na 200m. Za podpredsednico je bila imenovana Paula Radcliffe, nosilka svetovnega rekorda v maratonu.

Predsednik IAAF Sebastian Coe je v svojem govoru med drugim povedal, da sta Rožle in Paula vodstvo prevzela v, za atletiko, kritičnem času, saj je potrebno ponovno zgraditi upanje v atletiko, še posebej s podporo čistim atletom in poštenemu sistemu tekmovanj.

Seveda si vsi želimo, da bi atletika ponovno zasijala v vsej svoji veličini in ponosno nosila krono kraljice športa. Zato novemu vodstvu želimo veliko sreče in uspehov.

Rožle is the new Chairman of IAAF Athletes’ Commission

At the IAAF Athletes’ Commission meeting in Monaco on Saturday 27^th of February, Rožle Prezelj was elected as the new Chairman. Rožle succeeded a successful runner Frenk Fredericks, athletics best known as the former world record holder in the 200m. Britain’s marathon world record-holder Paula Radcliffe was nominated Vice Chairwoman of the commission.

The president of IAAF Sebastian Coe commented: “I was very pleased to meet with our Athletes’ Commission. I offer my deepest thanks and gratitude to Frank Fredericks, the outgoing chairperson, for his unstinting passion and commitment on behalf of athletes everywhere since he was elected in 2011. Many congratulations to his successor Rožle Prezelj and to Paula Radcliffe, the vice chairperson. They lead the commission at a crucial time for athletics’ future. The commission’s continued support and guidance is vital as we implement reforms across the IAAF and the sport to rebuild trust, in particular supporting clean athletes and honest competition.”

We all hope, athletics will rise again and proudly wear the crown as queen of all sports. Therefore we wish the new leaders good luck and much success in the following years.
